About the founder
"Children deserve to explore different art forms and discover their talents. Artists deserve to earn money doing what they do best. With Artsitters, parents can make that happen!"
Janina Lorenci, Founder and CEO of Artsitters
Janina Lorenci grew up in Slovenia and moved abroad in her teenage years to Paris, New York City and Amsterdam to pursue her musical studies and career in saxophone. Despite her international success, Janina realized her ambitions lie outside the world of music as well.
Janina was always fascinated by children and their endless curiosity, so she supported her studies by babysitting. While doing so, she was seeking ways to combine her expertise in music with working with children. She wondered what could be done in terms of exposing a child to a more colorful and creative world after school but also how can more artists like her work within their field. She found it a pity that most of her artist friends had a side job that was not relevant to their profession. She soon discovered that both the children and artists could benefit from creative lessons, done in a more accessible, flexible and simplified way.
By setting up an agency that enables children to spend quality time learning about art as well as giving the artists an opportunity to work within their
field ignites Janina’s wishes and beliefs that the society as we know it will become more open, tolerant, interested and educated with and by art.
